How I Renew Caulking
1. Complete removal
You cannot simply caulk over old, failing or mouldy silicone. New caulk will not bond properly, and mould trapped underneath keeps growing.
I scrape out the old caulking, clean the surface with a bleach-based cleaner or specialized mould remover, and make sure the area is completely dry.
2. Renew with quality silicone
I use a high-quality 100% silicone caulk with mildew-resistant additives. Unlike latex or acrylic sealants, it stays flexible and handles the expansion and contraction of the tub and walls without cracking.
A clean, careful application gives you a long-lasting, watertight seal.
